The silver moon rose in the glory of the darkened night sky, its light cascading off the glittering brilliance of the ocean into the vivid violet eyes of the woman who had stopped to admire it all. It was true beauty like no human could understand, and she knew even she could not no matter how long she stared at it. The scent of salt spray on the cool wind, the lone call of a night bird on the water, and the lap of waves against the wood of the dock were calming to her.Soothing. A break from the constant watching and surviving in the forest. The breeze brushed over her, drawing her crimson hair along her face, and waking her up from her dazed admiration.

Her slim form moved slowly down the dock, feet thudding on the wood beneath her feet with hollow echoes against the water. At her side was a man who made no sound when he moved, a serene calmness about his soft eyes crimson eyes as he looked to her and back forward. Their black cloaks flailed slightly out behind them as they swayed to the push and pull of the sea moving the dock in its force. Near the end of it, the woman sat down at the edge, removing her shoes, and sticking her feet tentatively into the waters. Squealing slightly, she smiled so it filled her face and looked up at the man.

"Ah! The water is perfect Ritskii."

Ritskii chuckled and bent down beside her, a soft smile on his face as he looked down at her. That smile, he could never resist smiling when she made that face. He knew no one who could. His voice was a low purr as he spoke to her.

"Of course, as i said it would be Ember. Did you doubt me?"

Ember scrunched up her face at him, and giggled. She felt giddy, almost like a child again before the fire. Like the first time she made a spark in her palm. Never had she been to the harbor before, to many people and to many rumors, and never had she actually been this close to the ocean. At her side, the man changed his shape to something that resembled a wolf, white with fur moving like flames along its body. Flames that didn't catch Ember on fire as the large creature curled itself around her body, its head filling her lap. Absently she pet the red and white fur as she admired the moon's mirror in the ocean.

"Gah!" Denzyl said suddenly, jolting up in his bed, flinging him from the sleep in which he had only just recently obtained. In what seemed like not ten minutes after laying down, whatever dream he had had casted him from that sleep, returning him to the world of the awakened. Worse yet, it left him with a splitting headache, which he attempted to sooth by gripping his head while sitting up. It didnt help, not at first. After about an additional three minutes, the headache subsided, and he let his entire body relax again, though still sitting up in the bed with his covers up to his waist. Perhaps this was the punishment for sleeping in a regular bed after having not for so long, because it was the first time in a long time that his sleep had been disturbed by anything at all. He got the message though: No going back to sleep. A sigh escaped his lips as he flung the sheets off and placed his bare feet on the ground. He had taken off his coat before sleeping, so now all he wore was his ankle long pants and breastplate. Thinking about it though, maybe it was sleeping on that breastplate that woke him...he didnt really know.

He rubbed his head before standing up, slipping his shoes on and grabbing his bow instinctively, slinging it over his back. It was still somewhat late at night, as not long before Lucy and he had gone back to the inn for some sleep. He prayed she was getting more than he was. Awake now with no hope of returning to sleep, he exited his room and began his walk down the hallway and stairs to the exit of the inn. He stopped for only a moment after passing what he believed was Lucy's room, thinking of her as, he looked at it briefly. Doing so brought a smile to his face; she was basically his first real human friend, and for that he was thankful. With that in mind, he continued his path down and out of the inn, and out into the crisp, salty night of the seaport town.

It wasnt until after he had made it out there that he began to wonder what it was he would do to kill time till morning, or at least until sleep decided to come back to him. In all honesty, it didnt take him very long to make up his mind, unlike usual. Before going to sleep, Lucy and he had gone to the beach, and both of them had experienced the ocean for the first time in quite awhile. The experience had sat somewhat awkwardly with him, something about it just making him feel weird, but it was a feeling he suddenly decided he wanted to feel again. He couldnt deny the beauty of it either, so that was a plus on his part. The path from the inn to the beach wasnt too long, but he found himself getting lost anyway.

Instead of turning out at the beach itself, he rather ended up at the port of the town, or the wooded area where all the ships and whatnot were. His frown showed his dissappointment in himself for getting lost along the way, but he figured he'd just make the best of his mistake, and witness the ocean from the docked point of view. He walked along the wood, his boots making only a small "thunk" sound with every step, as he had learned to be quiet-footed naturally, and even silent when he wanted to be. He strolled slowly for awhile, then found a segment of the wood extending out towards the water, the thing called a dock. He figured this would be the best way to get out to the water. As he got closer though, he noticed two figures. One looked like a human, and the other looked something like a snake, wrapped around her as if constricting her. He drew his bow and took aim at the two of them, but upon looking closer using his Eagle Eye ability, he realized the mistake of his evaluation, which caused him to sigh and sheath his bow.

He considered his options. It looked like the dock was already taken by someone, so he could either turn around now and try to get some sleep, find another spot, or try to confront whoever was up there. On any regular day, he would decide to find another spot, but after all the human interaction with Lucy earlier, he was feeling bold, so began walking forward. Once he was close enough to her, he spoke in a regular voice so that she could hear. "Nice night, isnt it?"

Ritskii lifted his large head from her lap, ears pricked and nose twitching. A low rumble in his throat as he pressed his head against her chest slightly, slowly uncurling and rising from the cold wood with a fierce look to his eyes to stand over her. He towered over her in her sitting position to stare at the man. Ember, caught off guard by the sudden change of mood in Ritskii, looked up startled with wide violet eyes. Almost instantly her face seemed to lose its smile and become blank and unchanging. Coldness entered her eyes as she began to look away at the water, not seeing the beauty she had moments before. It was replaced in her head by the worry that he might have recognized her, though he hadn't seemed to.

"Yes, it is rather beautiful tonight."

Her voice was empty, ringing in the tenseness around her body. Though, some part of her wanted to just relax. It was supposed to be a time of peace now. Besides, she hadn't had a conversation with anyone other then Ritskii in months, and this person seemed promising somehow to her. Silently she slipped her fingers into the strange black color hidden beneath the shivering mane of fur and tugged him back gently. Without hesitation he pulled back, losing the hostility as he resumed his head in her lap and his body curled around hers. Crimson eyes staring intently at the man as his tail curled over her protectively. Her hand caressed his laid back ears. This time her voice was gentler as her gaze stayed fixed on the moon's reflection in the ocean.

"You can sit if you like, it's a public dock."

Coincidences -Private- Empty
PostSubject: Re: Coincidences -Private-   Coincidences -Private- I_icon_minitimeTue Jun 01, 2010 7:54 pm

The sudden hostility he was greeted with was something he was only half expecting at the moment. As he had gotten closer to the two, he had realized the form in which he had taken aim to previously was a wolf curled around her, and he knew the manner of wolves rather well. For this reason, it's reaction to his arrival did not surprise him, though he wasnt the least bit unprepared either. As he stood, the wolf glaring at him, his arms and hands went tense, ready to whip out his short swords and finish the wolf in an instant should it attack him. He hoped that it would not, but he was ready all the same in case it were to do so anyway. Luckily, this did not come to be, and he was able to relax his arms, and let them hang gently by his sides.

The anticipation of combat had left him in a somewhat dulled state, so when she spoke to him, he heard her words and not her tone. He was unable to notice the emptiness to them, and therefor unable to consider what such could mean. He nodded without thinking, a silent response to her words, and waited for the wolf to be called off. It was eventually, without the girl ever even turning around to look at him, so he wasnt able to witness her face and whatever motions it might have made. He stood for awhile longer, even after the wolf HAD been called off, retreating around the girl and curling around her like some kind of safety blanket. The animal definitely did not like him, which made him somewhat sad, but he didnt show it.

Suddenly she was inviting him to sit down, though its manner caused him to frown. Just the way she said it made it feel like to him that she was just giving him the invite because it was the polite thing to do (as as she said, it WAS a private dock), but not because she thought she might enjoy his company. It was because of that that he was tempted to walk away, once again thinking about just going back to his room at the inn, but he ultimately decided not to. So far his encounter with this dock had been awkward and somewhat undesireable, but perhaps that would turn around soon enough. He hoped so anyway, as he was giving it a chance to. Silently, he sat down at the edge of the dock, grimacing when his boots suddenly plunked into the water entirely, soaking them. He hadnt thought about that, and now they were completely wet, so he prayed that the water wouldnt damage them somehow.

He sat next to her for a few moments without saying a word, just looking at the water, getting the same feeling in which he had felt before. It caused him to sigh, as that feeling was beginning to feel like depression for some odd reason he couldnt quite gasp. The black water with the moonlight reflection, while beautiful, was just having that kind of effect on him. But do something about it he could not, so just sat there next to the two of them, not saying anything, and dealing with this weird feeling he was anything but used to. He eventually got the urge to speak, and tried not to let his current feelings seep into his tone when he did so. "What brings you to Tola?" It was a question he believed Lucy had asked him previously, and for some reason he just felt like asking it.

Silently she watched him stand there long after her invitation had faded into the air, and even when he finally moved around her to sit at the edge. Ritskii shifted under her hands and moved his head to keep one gleaming eye on the man. Nose twitching with curiosity and caution. Ember looked down at him finally, then to the man as she brushed strands of crimson hair from her bright eyes. She hadn't expected him to start the conversation, or even sit after the hostile greeting from Ritskii, yet there he was. What an odd man. Most people she'd met would have run when they even saw this form of him, let alone if he had growled at them in the middle of the night. After he spoke she let his words hang there before responding with a softer tone.

"I..I never saw the ocean before. An old friend told me the water would be nice on a night like this, so i came."

As she said that she looked back down to Ritskii who was still watching the man. Suddenly, he pulled his head from her gently and stood to look at the man, no hostility but the gleam of intelligence behind his eyes. With ears forward and tail swaying slightly he moved towards the man and tentatively sat between him and Ember. Leaning over he sniffed the man's arm for a moment. It was then that he decided to speak up, and test the man.

"You smell of the forest, boy. Might I ask what you are doing in Tola yourself?"

Looking at him expectantly, he acted like it was normal for wolves to speak and make conversation. Ember looked startled he'd spoken as well, but startled as in he'd never done that before. It threw her off and she looked at the man waiting for some reaction. Hopefully he'd brush it off and not cause them any problems.

Coincidences -Private- Empty
PostSubject: Re: Coincidences -Private-   Coincidences -Private- I_icon_minitimeTue Jun 01, 2010 8:41 pm

As the girl responded to his question, he nodded slowly and quietly said "I see.." as if more to himself than her. It was a good enough reason, he couldnt really say his was much different. He had just seen the ocean before, that was the only difference. He still came her simply because he wanted to see the ocean. Thinking back, he was starting to get the idea that that dream which had caused him to wake itself was about the ocean. Interesting, but not all that surprising when he really thought about it. He didnt really have much else to say, so he continued to look at the water the way she had been before, ignoring the way she just sort of stared at him as if he was some kind of artifact. He began to notice the way his attitude had changed from earlier before with Lucy. He wasnt as completely social as he had been there. He was still friendly as he could be at the moment, but the urge to talk had deminished a little, and he was left with a kind of...calm yet mysterious kind of attitude. The thought caused him to sigh yet again, not all to used to the way he was now. Something about the water...

It was in the middle of these thoughts that he saw the wolf pick itself up away from the girl, and he turned his attention away from the water to look at it, though without turning his head. At first he thought the wolf was getting ready to attack, perhaps by some silent command the girl had given him, but these fears were soon chased away by how it actually acted. It just sat down between them, and it was then that he got the feeling that this wolf was no ordinary wolf. Really he had suspected it all along, its coat just wasnt normal, but now his suspicions were coming to truth. He let it sniff him without much reaction, still looking at it somewhat expectantly.

Then it spoke, and he closed his eyes with a smile. He wasnt at all surprised, in fact he was a little bit enthoused as to how it, or should he say he, had realized quickly his true home. Thats what caused his smile, and when he opened his eyes, he was looking back at the water again, speaking with an equally calm voice. "The forest has always been my home. Though recently I had been prompted to leave it, to navigate the rest of the world. I only stumbled upon this town by accident, as I wasnt entirely sure which road would take me where. You could say I'm lost."
